Ride and Talk - #24 Riding the R 18 – Exclusive Live Podcast Discussion!

Download it: MP3 | AAC | OGG | OPUS

Welcome to our first ever live video podcast episode of Ride and Talk. We recorded this in the midst of lockdown, when everyone wanted to ride but no one was really able to. So we thought it would be cool to use technology to try and bring us all together – virtually at least – to talk bikes. Specifically, the new R 18.

In this episode, we chat with Timo Resch, Vice President Sales and Marketing BMW Motorrad, and Trudy Hardy, VP of BMW Motorrad of the Americas, about the imminent arrival in the cruiser segment of the exciting new R 18. Then we introduce some familiar faces from the Bavarian Soul Story YouTube series, including Tommy Kerns, Alan Stulberg, Kate Nettesheim and Nathalie Gessler. From Munich to Los Angeles, via New York and Texas, we do hope you enjoy the listen!

Join Andy Dukes as he delves deep into the world of BMW Motorrad for amazing behind-the-scenes stories and unique insights from brand experts, ambassadors and the passionate global riding community.

The world was a very different place in 1983 when 23-year-old Elspeth Beard fired up her R 60/6 BMW and left London for a two-year journey into the unknown. In doing so, she became the first British woman to ride a motorcycle around the world.

Although she kept diaries of her amazing adventure, she put them away upon her return and forgot about them for nearly 30 years until a journalist commissioned a story about her original journey. A book deal was subsequently struck and Lone Rider was published. It’s gone on to be a huge success – and Elspeth tells Ride and Talk how the bike and the book has changed her life.

Ride and Talk - #20 Lost in the Pacific with Dylan Wickrama

Download it: MP3 | AAC | OGG | OPUS

Dylan Wickrama’s story has it all: lost on the Pacific Ocean in a home-made raft powered by his BMW R 1150 GS Adventure – and all because after three years of round-the-world travel, he was stuck at the Darién Gap between Panama and Colombia, where all roads ended at that time.

What happened out there is a spellbinding story that was first published in Dylan’s book ‘When the road ends’, but has now been made into a feature-length documentary movie, available for streaming and download worldwide from 12 May via iTunes, Amazon, Google Play and similar platforms. Ride and Talk - #16 Developing the Future

It’s fantastic that BMW Motorrad’s top management likes to join customer events like the Int. GS Trophy and ride with all the participants. While we were in New Zealand in February, we caught up with new head of BMW Motorrad development Christof Lischka, who rode the entire Trophy with BMW Motorrad boss Markus Schramm, head of design Edgar Heinrich, and head of marketing and product management Ralf Rodepeter.

As well as being a top rider (motocross, enduro and rally) Christof is really looking forward to building on BMW Motorrad’s successful product development of recent years, so gave us some really interesting insights into life behind the scenes in future vehicle development. Enjoy the listen!
